Sometimes waiting an extra few days to check out the house is worth it. We went by today and the progress was huge- plaster complete, interior doors are in, trim in progress and wainscoting almost complete! Here is a quick look – more to come later this week.
Now that we have the big decisions made we are chipping away at some of the smaller items and confirming with our builders how to move forward. One of those items pending was Wainscoting. We were able to visit a house that is further along in its build this weekend to get some ideas for our home. In seeing their selections for wainscoting we immediately knew how we wanted to move forward. You may remember my earlier post in which I found inspiration for wainscoting at my parents house, well some of those ideas don’t stray far from where we landed….
Half-Bath 1st Floor
First Floor Hallway and Staircase to the 2nd Floor
I see the Dining Room as another room where overtime we may use wainscoting but for now, I think these are the key areas to start with. It is a great design element that really adds a personalized and handcrafted element to any home.
Looking forward to seeing this in our home soon!
Over the next week or so I want to wrap my head around lighting fixtures for our bathrooms. While the lighting fixtures are a focus I feel that I have to think about the room as a whole to pick out the right fixture. For today, let’s focus on the half bath on the first floor (right off of the kitchen, next to the mud-room).
As you may remember we have already selected the sink, plumbing fixtures and toilet. We still have to select the mirror, lighting fixture, toilet paper holder, wainscoting and wallpaper. There is so much out there to choose from! I love the look of a frameless tilt mirror for this bath. For storage, we can get a separate small cabinet and place it in the corner so I am not worried about having a medicine cabinet. Here are some products I found and loved online-
Product can be found at:
Pedestal Sink: Toto
Faucet: Ammara Designs
Lighting Fixtures- Bellacor
Mirror & Toilet Paper Holder- Pottery Barn
I have used the below images as inspiration for wainscoting and wallpaper in our Half Bath-
Or modern wainscoting…
Grass Cloth Wallpaper
bold choice but I love it!
More neutral but will work better with the tile floors
This could work well
What do you think of these ideas? Any favorite pics or suggestions for lighting- let me know!
Good Morning! Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. I am starting this week off with some wainscoting inspiration from Southampton. I love the use of wainscoting as a design element. Whether it be for the hall, bathroom, mud room, or dining room it creates a custom feel to any room. Here are some of my favorites from my parents house…
