We have grass!

On my way back from my walk this morning with the little one I couldn’t resist taking a few pictures of the front of the house.

We put down hydro-seed two weeks ago and the grass is growing! Much better in the front (more sun) than the back. Now we just have to get a lawn mower (boring ) or figure out someone who can do it!

Next step for the outside- front walk and landscaping. Hoping to have both complete by end of next week (crossing my fingers- this is the busy season and it’s impossible to get out guy back!)

Hope you all are enjoying this beautiful summer day!

Landscaping Inspiration

I am way behind on my posts!  Things will be a little busier over the next few weeks at work so I am working to try to keep up with my posting as much as possible.

Today’s post actually pulls some images I took a few weekends ago in the city.  On my walking route I pass by the Fairmont Battery Wharf and have always admired their landscaping around the building.  While we are a long time away from having to get ready for landscaping I always think it is good to capture ideas when you see them (there have been numerous times I have looked back on the blog to remember ideas I have posted!).

As you can see in the pictures from my walk the Fairmount uses various plants that have a different looks and textures.  I love that they use a lot of “non-traditional” plants (i.e. sea grass) this is my ideal landscape to surround the front of the house and backyard…hopefully it is low maintenance as well!  Good thing is they have little signs for the name of each plant so I can write them down on my next walk.

While I will miss this view I am looking forward to having a little more space in our soon to be home!
