I am back…

I can’t even look to see the date of my last post as this delay is longer than I would like to admit. I am not even sure where to start with my posts but I will start with a few big updates…

1) The good news is- the house is complete and we moved in at the end of April!
2) Life! My lack of posting was due to a combination of- building the house, work, decorating the house – oh and being 8-9 months pregnant! On top of that our wonderful little girl decided to come a few weeks early – she was just so excited to see the new house and surprised on Mother’s Day with her arrival.
3) We LOVE our Home. We couldn’t be happier. Of course our house to do list is never-ending but I Love it. I definitely have a little OCD in getting the house decorated but I am also making sure that we live in it to make sure everything we buy and invest in makes sense for our home.

So, now that I am settled (sort of) I hope to spend the next few days catching you all up on what happened since the last post and then dive into my decorating obsessions which I have been spending way to much time on (but it is so fun).

To start, I would like to share one of my favorite pictures of our HOME- it seems simple but a the door to your home is a key focal point. You want people to feel welcome when they come to your door. I tried to accomplish that by painting the door a shade of my favorite color (blue). This Benjamin Moore Color is called New York State of Mind- once I knew the name I was sold. I love New York, and always will, so this is a little connection point for where I grew up. Plus, the color looks great with the siding.

Looking forward to sharing more with you over the next few days-

Sunday catch up at home…

This is our first weekend home in almost a month- we are loving it!  I am anxiously waiting for Jarret to get home from his golf game so we can take a drive down to the lot.  We just got some pictures from my sister-in-law, Lauryn, and the foundation is being built and they are on site working today!  I will post some updates tonight once we see it…

In the meantime, I wanted to share our “house” planning space at our current apartment.  There are a lot of reasons we are moving and one of them is space.  I love our apartment, this is where we have lived for the past 6+ years but we don’t have any more room!  To help with the space, we have started to pack up some of our stuff and start cleaning out.

Often times I am posting my bogs while hanging out at the apartment but when we have a house project we have converted our kitchen table to the go to spot for everything house related-

While I catch up on some house stuff today, I couldn’t resist a delicious Tate’s blueberry muffin.  For those of you who know my family, Tate’s is a staple in our house.  You might see the cookies at your local store, but the best spot is their storefront in Southampton.  We stop by there whenever we are in NY and pick up a few treats to bring back with us…

Hope you enjoyed a little sneak peek into the “blogging” world of Building the Bennett’s- looking forward to have a bigger and better set-up at the house!

Blogs to follow, Design

50 + Posts…

This past week I reached 50+ posts on the blog.  Looking back, I can’t even remember each post but I have truly enjoyed every minute of blogging!

By no means am I an expert or a “blogger” (yet) but I feel like I am starting to find my voice a little more in each post.  Lately I have been looking around at other blogs to get ideas – there are so many amazing bloggers out there, it is easy to find inspiration.

I wanted to share with you my favorite blogs and I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I do!

  • Style Me Pretty Living– whether it be fashion, food, parties, or home this blog is jammed pack with ideas.  A true “lifestyle” blog it keeps you coming back everyday to see what great ideas it has.  The pictures really draw me to their site, everything always looks beautiful- great eye candy while catching up at the end of a day.
  • Elements of Style– recommended by my good friend, Alexis, this blog stands by its name.  It has amazing ideas and content for everything you need in life.  If you live in the Boston area, you must check out some of the items in their tag sale– so many amazing pieces!
  • Apartment Therapy– A well-established blog with content that extends to so many topics and locations it is a must-read.
  • Young House Love– I love see the progress for this family in their new home.  They have great DIY ideas and really give you details and ideas to inspire you with your own projects.

For all of you that have been reading the blog I would love any feedback or comments you might have.  Anything you want to see more of?  Anything that you want to see less of?  Looking forward to hearing from you!
