We have grass!

On my way back from my walk this morning with the little one I couldn’t resist taking a few pictures of the front of the house.

We put down hydro-seed two weeks ago and the grass is growing! Much better in the front (more sun) than the back. Now we just have to get a lawn mower (boring ) or figure out someone who can do it!

Next step for the outside- front walk and landscaping. Hoping to have both complete by end of next week (crossing my fingers- this is the busy season and it’s impossible to get out guy back!)

Hope you all are enjoying this beautiful summer day!

Master Bedroom Decorating- Duvet Cover

You may remember I was debating over a few different options for our duvet cover in the Master Bedroom. I ended up finding one of our top choices on Rue La La the other week and made the purchase. This Mataveri Collection duvet cover from Bliss Living will work perfectly for the overall design in the master bedroom. I love the different shades of blue and the grey color, it will work back well to our paint selection in the bedroom and bath. I am going to have fun adding decorative pillows and a quilt to this bed. I should get it in the mail in the next few days- at which point I will be on the hunt for the different pieces to pull this bed together. More to come this week on ideas for our bedroom design!

From the ground up- new page!

Very excited to be starting a new page on the blog- From the ground up!  This page will document the building process with photos from each part of the build.

It also shows you our house plans (quick look below) so you can see what we are working towards with our final product (our home!).

Updates will be happening weekly as we get into September so check back often!

Enjoy- xo KB

Building- Interior Door Decision

Another small but important detail for setting the tone of your design…Interior Doors.

I am working on building a new page that will preview our house plans and document the building process (via photos) of the lot- in the meantime here is some background on our “vision” for the house.

While we wanted the house to be traditional, we didn’t want it to be a standard Colonial.  I was big on making sure the front of the house had dimension and it wasn’t just a box.  We layered on details (farmer’s porch, garage door details) to breakaway from the traditional colonial and to create our look.  In working to carry that design idea inside my design trends towards the craftsman style for key elements in the house…including the interior doors.

We choose a craftsman door style by Jeld-Wen Windows & Doors– style, Craftsman III

I used some of the below images as inspiration for our choice
